This
is one of the best books
for the purpose of identifying unknown fish. It has general
information at the family level but as the introduction states:
"This Atlas of Marine Fishes is designed mainly as a pictorial
aid for the identification of marine fishes". Most
of the 672 pages contain 8 fish each. These are intermixed
with full page color photographs showing one fish. For the
purpose of identifying fish, it is a great book with thousands
of saltwater fish! |

A
compilation of saltwater fish that inhabit reef environments,
Scott Michael's books define a new standard in aquarium hobbyist
books. They are extremely informative and interesting to read.
Blends current knowledge in marine biology with aquarium selection
and care from a behavioural standpoint. It explains why fish
act the way they do because of their natural behaviors and
survival techniques. There are lots of interesting facts from
hobbyist and biologist observations. We recommend this
book as the best of its kind for marine aquariusts, divers,
snorkelers, and underwater naturalists.
Contains
over 600 pages with detailed descriptions of marine fish
families. |

Hawkfishes continues in the tradition of the first book with
