"I've seen a look in dogs’ eyes, a quickly vanishing look of amazed contempt, and I am convinced that basically dogs think humans are nuts." John Steinbeck
Dexter J.
"Dexter lives with 4 ferrets… How could he not be smart?" 2008-09-01
Here’s what Deb Timmermans says about Dexter J.:
"Dex is amazing. He is the smartest dog I have not just owned but known!! He’s handsome, loving, loyal, understands things he shouldn’t, will not leave the property unless he’s given the ok and is the best friend anyone could ask for. I can take Dex anywhere and he will always behave. He loves children and all other animals. We have a cat and four ferrets in our home. Border Collies truly are an amazing breed!"

Uncover the mystery of the white shark
Video webcast: Friday, September 12 at noon Pacific time
For only the fourth time since 2004, the Monterey Bay Aquarium has a young white shark in the Outer Bay exhibit.
Tune in next Friday, September 12, to learn how she’s doing and what we hope to learn from her time here. We’ll also share exclusive video of our three previously exhibited white sharks.
Our white shark experts, including curator of field operations John O’Sullivan, white shark researcher Chris Perle and host Ken Peterson, will update you on the latest discoveries about white shark behavior. They’ll talk about our ongoing white shark research project and what we learned during our 2008 field season in Southern California. Our guests will answer your questions throughout the program.
"She loves it when we scratch her. If we stop, she scratches our hand telling us to keep going. haha. i love her. And for some reason. she doesnt like drinking water from her bowl, buuut, she loves it from a water bottle. How spoiled can she be.
"
"Sounds like she’s a funny little puppy thats fun to be around… as long as you like scratching her (and who wouldn’t!). Thanks for sharing her here."
"My African Grey Timneh’s name is Pipo and he is very funny. He cough like if he is very sick and when people hear him they ask me “Oh My God you need to take him to the vet! He has a cold!” I tell them that he does that because he wants to bring the attention from us. Also he laughs and he calls me in the morning because he wants his milk. He sings, dance and talks a lot and he says “Pipo Poop”. He speaks and understands English and Spanish very well and he talks both. He loves to take showers with me and my husband. We celebrate his first birthday and he loved his cake!"
Here’s what Timmermans says about Casey, Finnigan, Milo and Rafferty:
"We feel we are owned by our fuzzies. Casey and Finnigan are brothers. The are blackfoots with dark noses and golden brown fur. Milo and Rafferty are also brothers. They are blackfoots as well but have a silver sheen to their fur and have pink noses. Casey and Finnigan came first. A couple months later the other two joined our family. The babies (as we call them) come when we call them and love to be held and cuddled. Each one has a unique personality too! If ever you are down or in a bad mood these guys will make you giggle and brighten anyones day!!"
Skinny Pig
"I’m not really skinny, but how do you think you’d look if you were a hairless guinea pig?" 8/14/2008
Though called a Hairless Guinea Pig, the Skinny Pig actually does have just a bit of hair!
The Skinny Pig is a very unusual, yet an increasingly popular breed of Guinea Pig. There are actually two types of Hairless Guinea Pig, this one and another called the Baldwin Guinea Pig. These nearly hairless critters have a funny way of winning the hearts of nearly all they come into contact with.
Skinny Pigs are as curious and mischievous as any other breed of Guinea pig, but some owners and breeders claim that they are more outgoing. They are quite playful, and they love attention.
Skinny Pigs do not require the brushing that other Guinea pigs need, but they do have certain special needs… (Read More)
"Max has his own blog and that has led him to world wide fame and fortune…. well okay, just a fame. His blog, Maxthegoldenretriever.com was first featured on CNN.com in March 2008 in an online story about blogging pets. Since then he has been part of an art exhibit in England, had his picture shown at Times Square and most recently been on the radio in Perth, Australia."
Rab
"They just don’t get any cuter than this folks!" 2008-08-23
Here’s what Kelly White says about Rab:
"The Rab is the cutest, cuddliest, most gentle and loving bunny. I spend so much time with him, he is small enough to carry around the house and snuggle on the couch or in bed. He is very clean and toilet trained. He loves having a hop in the garden and when its time to be caught he just sits there to be picked up for a cuddle! I love him with all my heart. I think he is the cutest and best rabbit in the whole world!"
"Rab looks and sounds like the most endearing pet in the world! He almost looks like a panda rabbit with those markings. How cute!"
Silkie Guinea Pig
"Some people say ‘go for the gold’, but I say… "go for the SILK!" 8/14/2008
The coat of the beautiful Silkie Guinea Pig sweeps back over its body like a cloak!
The Silkie is an attractive long-haired Guinea pig. It is popular as a pet, and even more popular on the show table. Silkies have lovely locks unlike any other guinea pig.
Their hair is very soft and shiny. Show Silkies are a sight to behold. It’s hard to resist petting a Silkie!
This breed is rather high-maintenance, so it is probably not the best choice for a young child. Even adults who keep Silkies as pets will often trim their hair to keep from having to groom constantly. With their good looks and sparkling guinea pig personalities, they make a fine choice for a dedicated owner…. (Read More)
